Positioning
Economist: connecting issues, rigor, and practical tools.
My approach involves analyzing a question or issue. To address it,
the deliverable may take the form of a descriptive data analysis
(e.g., administrative data, surveys), a
public policy evaluation,
an econometric analysis, a dashboard, a predictive model, a research
pipeline, or automated monitoring.
My work has also informed real-world decisions: a research study
recognized for its rigor by a board of directors and used in
discussions on the evolution of a public program; the co-authoring
of a report submitted to the Quebec National Assembly; and six
academic research partnerships (see my
career).

Career
A career in research and public decision-making
Several years of applied research at public institutions in Quebec:
the Parental Insurance Management Board, the Quebec Ministry of
Finance, the University of Sherbrooke (UdeS), and the National School
of Public Administration (ENAP). From one
assignment to the next, the
same four-step method: formulate
the question, build the evidence, make the analysis actionable, and
communicate in an accessible way what the results show, what they do
not show, and what they enable us to decide.
